The best thing for the sore throat is to gargle with warm salt water and I found that eating something salty helped. Also hot chicken noodle soup is soothing. Cloriseptic spray is a temporary fix. The best thing for the cough is an expectorant. It's really good to cough up that phlem. You don't want it lurking around in your chest. Honey lemon cough drops are good, too.
