I posted last week that I had been scheduled to get a B12 shot on Friday. Well, I went in that afternoon and sat in the waiting area for 20 minutes and then in the nurses office for 10 minutes and then in comes a nurse, all stressed out and in a hurry, looks at the chart and plunks a small syringe full of red syrum in my arm and tells to me to come back next month - that's all it took. Well, I didn't feel the effects of the shot until the weekend, but I've really noticed the difference and it's WONDERFUL!!!! On Saturday night hubby and I went with a few freinds to see a movie - I didn't feel tired and stayed awake for the whole thing! Afterwards we went and had drinks and stayed out till about 1:00 am and I was fine (we'd slept in that morning so I'd had a good night's rest). We got home and I wasn't jittery or anything, I went right to sleep. Today at work we received a letter from China that I had to translate. In the past few months I have tried to do as little translating as possible. It made me SO tired I would litterally fall asleep every 10 or 15 minutes and could barely translate two sentences before my eyelids dropped and my head fell on my hands. Today I translated an entire letter. It was not short. It came out to three pages in English and it took me almost 2.5 hours to translate and I did not fall asleep once. I didn't even feel tired. I am trully elated with this - people may think it sounds silly - but this is a BIG deal!!! Yeah for treatment that works!!!! I know B12 is usually not a problem for most people, but I will warn you, if you are a strict vegetarian you won't get it in your food (unless you supplement) and if you have really bad D your food may not spend enough time in the area of the intestine where it's absorbed so you could be defficient. With Crohn's disease, my intestine is inflamed in the area where B12 absorbs, so I wasn't getting enough. Get your doctor to run a B12 serum level - it's a simple blood test and if you are defficient the treatment is easy and it makes a difference!!!! I'm SO happy with this!
Here's to good news! Just had to share!
