Your shrink does sound fabulous, Michele. I'm so glad she was able to give you a little peace with all this.
As far as the dog..when I was growing up we had a girl dog and she was at my moms feet, lap, 24 hours a day! She was the most affectionate and loving dog to all of us (well not my dad, but that's because he was a jerk). But my mom was definitely like her "mom".
After she died, my mom had a boy dog...same breed. That dog wasn't affectionate or did not bond with anyone. So, not sure if it's possible to base this on sex. I think it may just be an individual thing...from one dog to another???
