Wow! What a response! But, uh, gee guys, how do you REALLY feel about this?! 
Thanks, I appreciate your input. I agree with all of you; my problem is my hubby, who, above all, wants to get off on the right foot with these neighbors. Originally, I felt the same way as he, but now I don't give a damn. I mean, how can I have any consideration for someone who could treat any creature like that?
I couldn't sleep last night; I was up 'till 3:30. (Don't ever eat chocolate before bedtime; what was I THINKING?!) And of course I was Gladys Cravitz all day and all night.
The Shabby Shack Trash returned at 10:15 p.m. and finally took The Dog inside. I was so overjoyed, I yelled at Abner, but he ignored me. At 2:30, the Shabby Shack Trash left, turned off all the lights except the porch light, and took The Dog with them. YAAAAAY!
I was finally able to get to sleep at 3:30. Between then and now (8:00 a.m.), the Shabby Shack Trash returned and are there now. The Dog is outside again, but not crying, and at least I know they're there.
If it happens again, I'm definitely calling the owner of the property down in Mt. Vernon, and to hell with the tenants. They don't deserve my friendship.
