Call the landlord and ask if he'll contact the renters on your behalf (I'm guessing he won't be able to give you their contact details). Say you're worried about them as they've left their dog for so long...and how about offering to look after the dog i they're having difficulties? If they say no to that I'd say they're mistreating their dog! But give them the chance to do the right thing so you don't have to get off on the wrong foot. And Melissa, there ARE doggy sitters! Not group daycare (can you imagine the chaos) but professional people who look after dogs. Archie stayed with one last summer when we had to go away without him and it was great.
