This is a good thread! I am currently trying to think of gifts that I can make NOW that will keep until Christmas...I'm leaving in 2 weeks for the Philippines and will be gone until the end of Dec, so I need to have all my gifts ready before I leave. Plus a lot of my extended family is coming to AZ for thanksgiving, so its a lot cheaper to just send their gifts with them and not ship them!
So, I love to bake, and that's what I usually give for Christmas gifts...but since most baked goods won't last a month, I'm kind of at a loss! I really like the brown sugar scrub, but it's more of a "girly" gift, and I need family gifts (so I don't have to give my cousin AND her husband AND her kid a gift).
I'm straying away from all the "cookies in a jar" kind of gifts...because they rarely ever taste good, and I find that most people who get them are either too lazy to bake them, or they forget about them and let them sit for a year and then end up throwing them out anyways. :P
I'd bake candy (like english toffee!! mmm!), but that's not really affordable, and really time-consuming (and time is of the essence at this point!).
I think I've found one idea...a lemon ginger pound cake in a jar (you bake it right in the jar, and it lasts for up to 3 months at room temp!)...sounds tasty too, which is my #1 concern
Any other ideas?
