My opinion....       10/05/05 07:45 AM Edit Reply Quote epa_ginger Reged: 02/23/05 Posts: 1158 Loc: Chicago, IL One of my pet peeves about myself is that I am late often. Not VERY late, more like 5-15 min. And I have no medical cause! Yes, I wake up earlyish (5:30), and barely feel awake, but that's just normal grogginess---I'm a pretty good sleeper. I'm lucky to have a flexible job where it doesn't really matter. And I'm never late to appointments, usually just stuff like meeting people out, etc. I never complain about people not waiting for me, or anything. I know it's my problem. And granted, sometimes things just happen that you don't expect. Like.....catching a train at a crossing, or bad traffic, or a change in plans, or someone calling on your way out the door. It's hard to plan your life expecting "the unexpected" that way. Anyway, I think there are worse things than being a little late, especially when you have a diagnosed illness. I know a lot of people who get special treatment because of an illness. Certainly where i Work (the government) this is more common. And if your work is good, it should be worth it to the employer to give you some leeway on that. But I'm of the frame of mind that jobs that make people clock in and out (in an office setting!!), are watched like hawks, have to abide by rules just for the sake of having rules (not saying attendance is one of these, I'm thinking strict dress code when you sit at a desk all day), just make people bitter employees. My job is flexible, my boss is flexible, my work environment is an easy one, so I'm pretty happy, and never stress out about work. I know too many people who hate their jobs because of their boss or the overbearing "rules" they have to abide by.
