Is it the same reason each time? I don't know why your boss is keeping track, but you have the benefit now of KNOWING that she's doing it. Whether or not she's that name you called her, she does have authority to fire you, and that's what counts. Frankly, I wouldn't focus so much on her -- after all, the stress is tearing up YOUR tummy, not HERS! -- but I'd take this opportunity to do whatever it takes to make SURE you're never late again. Do you like this job? Is it one you want to keep? If so, then I'd try to change my attitude and focus on being the most prompt employee she ever had, but I'd DO IT WITH A SMILE. If you "cop an attitude," she's already got her finger on that trigger, don't give her reason to pull it! Now, having said all that, let me add that I do know how you feel. I had a boss one time who was a real hard-A$$. I was never late coming in except ONE TIME when I happened to run into a girlfriend on her way to work, whom I hadn't seen in 15 years. We were both early, so we stopped for a cup of coffee. It made me 3 minutes late. When my boss called me on it, I said, "you can take your 3 minutes and you know what you can do with it. I'm outta here!" I cleaned out my desk and left for good. While it felt good, it wasn't what I would recommend, because it certainly doesn't bode well on a resume. Thankfully I never needed her for a reference! Go have a Jack, get it all out of your system, then start all over -- with a big smile -- on Monday.
