Well, I'm finally here and more or less set up, and what a city it is! I've never seen so many old buildings all together in my entire life. I'm still a little bit afraid of crossing the street (where do the cars come from again?), but other than that I think I'm adapting to the style of life here.
I'm sharing a flat with a 25-year-old PhD student from Ireland named Louise, and we've been 'getting on' great, although I have to say I've never drank so much tea in a week before!  I've only been to a couple of seminars/lectures, so I don't have a really good feel for the program yet (except for the extensive reading lists), but hey, it'll all come in time.
I'm sure there will be more to come...
