Michelle, I applaud you for home schooling your children!! I know the concerns you have as a parent/mother about public school in general and especially with a special needs child. I too had those concerns when raising my children....who are now 15 and 17.
I grew up with a special needs brother. He is developmentally disabled (now 40 years old). During our childhood, I remember my parents struggling to figure out what would be "right" for my brother. My mother (bless her soul) was a devout Catholic, and wanted to do what was "right" in the eyes of the church. My family struggled, and still struggles today because they won't reach out to others. Christianity is about reaching out-- like what you are doing with the bible study group (that is step one) Trust in it. There are people out there to help you, if you are willing to accept their help.
My whole life has been "special needs"....I grew up with a special needs brother, and I have worked with special needs children (in the public school system) for the past 12years. Please know GOD places his followers in strategic assignments. I believe that every child I have worked with has been a special assignment from GOD.
I pray Heavenly Father, I lift Michelle and her children up to you now. From what Michelle has shared, she is needing more communication/relationships with other mothers. I pray that her needs get met. I know that Michelle wants to do what is right in your eyes for her children Lord. Please guide her Lord. Open doors for her that have not yet been opened, show her the possibilities that are available to her and her family to make life the best it can be. In Jesus Name I pray amen
