I know you are going month to month right now, but aside from the length of the lease, the original terms of your agreement should apply. Most standard form leases have some clauses in there about the landlord's duty to keep the place free from excessive noise, etc. Check it out and see if there is anything like that in the lease. I know you don't want to spend money on a lawyer right now, but he doesn't have to know that. If there is anything in your lease dealing with noise, call him up, remind him of it, and tell him that gee golly you sure do hope you don't have to call your uncle the lawyer. HTH.
