Hi, Michelle!
Hope this reply finds you well - praying your gyn appointment was just fine.
As for the allergy shots, my own experience as an adult was horrible - but for the children in my extended family, the shots have been a real blessing! I took immunotherapy about 15 years ago - I'm sure they've come a long way! As for the kids, the one child has seen wonderful results - hardly any problems from allergies anymore - and the results were almost immediate. This particular child had some real mood and behavior issues and what a turn-around! The others didn't continue the shots.
Several of us in the family are extremely allergic and we all carry Epi-Pens. You might want to ask your allergist about this? (As a matter of fact, mine are expired - I need to renew!). My own experience was so bad that I've been told I should never try the shots again - went into anaphylaxis (sp?) in the allergist's office - while I was on "maintenance". I had had several outbreaks of head-to-toe hives within hours of the shots but the allergist didn't tell me that each reaction would be worse - he just kept trying to fiddle with the dose. It was his nurse, God bless her, who told me I should stop taking the shots. This was confirmed by my primary care. But, my allergies are much better now, anyway - outgrowing them? I still like the security of an Epi-Pen since I'm sensitive to so many things.
This was meant to be encouraging - just ignore the stuff about me! I don't think it's relevant to Luke since it was so long ago - but I do think the Epi-Pen (Jr.) might be a good idea.
Praying the therapy works and that Luke's needs will be met in all situations! God bless him!
In Him, Kaybee C
