Well, I don't have a husband, but I will share this story with you.
My boyfriend was not doing too well medically and had to go into a nursing home. Because of two strokes he had years ago he had very limited speech and problems with his memory. His sister and I went to visit him and I had on a simple gold band with some tiny diamonds in it that I bought a few years ago. He looked at it kind of funny and his sister said "He thinks its a wedding ring". I looked at him and said "What's the matter .... don't you remember we got married a few weeks ago?" He looked puzzled, then shrugged and said "Oh". So that is as close as I got to a verbal committment. Before I left that day I kissed him and said "I love you" and for the first time he said out loud "I love you." The next day my Richie died suddenly. That was a month ago, so I still miss him a lot, but somehow that day filled me with something that had been missing all my life and I can go on and smile when I think of him.
