No. He is WRONG. Intelligence and personality are two different things. They are interrelated, yes, but are two separate entities, I think. Don't let him stop you from talking in class. That's just one person's opinion. There's always those deep thinkers in the world. Just because you don't get into deep discussions doesn't mean you're not intelligent. It is NOT a personality flaw at all. It means that you have the best of both worlds - you're an intelligent, well rounded person who can see the lighter side of things as well, and are social and are comfortable in lots of different situations. I have an IQ of 135 and I rarely talk about it. I have a lighthearted personality and do not like deep discussions at all. That does not make me less intelligent. Intelligence can be used in many different ways - not just deep thinking. Tell him to take a hike. You're probably smarter than he is anyway.
