I haven't been on the boards for awhile but saw your posts from the last day or two just wanted to respond. First off you are one step closer to combating this monkey on your back for one wanting to get better and 2 for taking that step outside your door! For what happened in your past I am so, so sorry. Even though my anxiety is coming from a different place I will tell you what helped me. Therapy - stopping the what ifs(my mind was always running)and getting that unbiased opinion. Things did get worse before they got better, it was as if my mind didn't want to change! Talking about it to those I trusted Getting positive feedback for all the small steps and even those that took me backward. Reading and researching Medication - which I have reduced over the past year and 1/2 Michael's hypnotherapy CD's
I have tried Rescue Remedy in the past and it did help and deep breathing. When I find my mind wandering toward the anxiety I pinch myself so I come back to reality, not to hard mind you! But it helps. I also was reading about FDR and ER and came across his quote, "The only thing we have to fear is fear itself" and I thought how true. I hope something I said will help, my thoughts are with you.
