My 33 yr old niece is mentally ill and has tried suicide several times. Our whole family is involved in her treatments and are always on pins & needles about what will happen next. She has been in and out of mental facilities..sometimes of her own free will and sometimes committed. She is living with her mom who is my sister and she is taking care of her. Right now, thank goodness, she seems to have leveled out a little bit but we just never know what will happen next. I don't even want to take a guess at how many different medications she has been on. I am here to tell you that it is very, very hard on the family of a mentally ill person.
