I intended to qualify as a solicitor but had glandular fever and was too ill to finish the course. So I became a legal executive instead - same work, less money. Stopped work when my mother became ill and looked after her 24/7 for several years. Didn't go back to work after she died because my IBS was very bad by then. Before the law degree, I started a degree in Chinese Studies, but dropped out after a year and a half. I worked in a bookshop and in a Women's Aid Refuge before going back to study law. What I'd like to do now is teach EFL and travel the world - but I'd have to be more on top of my IBS than I am at present. I want to work and I think I'm ready to try, although at my age it's harder to get job offers ... My favourite job was in the bookshop and I think really I should have trained as a librarian - that was my vocation, but I just didn't know it!
