Bad news - my Uncle Dick died       03/08/05 09:38 AM Edit Reply Quote LauraSue Reged: 01/14/04 Posts: 4812 Loc: New York City I got a call this morning from my Uncle Dick's partner Ron. Dick killed himself three weeks ago. He was my favorite uncle. He was actually my dad's first cousin. They grew up together. Dick was such a handsome man, I always had a crush on him growing up. He and Ron had been together almost 40 years. I met Ron in the mid-60's when Dick brought his "roommate" home to Michigan for a family Christmas. I had gotten back in touch with them after my dad's death 7 years ago. I was their link to the rest of the family. Dick was such a gentle, wonderful, intelligent man. But he'd apparently gotten into financial difficulties and couldn't bear to tell Ron. He bought a shotgun from Walmart in December, Ron said, so he had been planning this for some time. He went way back in the woods near their house so that Ron wouldn't be the one to find him. Ron is absolutely devastated. What an awful thing. I wish there was a way to heal the world.
