No we're going to send our children to the closest public school. I don't know if you guys have two publicly funded school systems or not. We have the Public system and the Catholic system. The biggest difference is of course that there is no religion taught in the public schools and Catholicism taught in their schools. We could send our kids there but I don't really want them to learn all that stuff as it might be confusing to them. We don't do the rosary and cross ourselves and celebrate First Communion and so on the way the Catholics do.

It's been quite a discussion with our church parenting group as all our kids are about the same age and some advocate the public, some the Catholic (at least they'll get some Christian teaching), some the Christian school (pay your own way) and some do home-schooling. We decided against home-schooling as we want our kids to have the social aspect and to learn about other cultures and religions. And maybe they can help their non-Christian friends come to Christ. (We're Pentecostal which teaches us to spread the word of God to everyone.) All that and Emily (4) has made a friend in the neighbourhood who will go to the public school.

Wow. Sorry about the long discourse but it's been quite a topic around here lately. It does depend on the school as well. If the teachers aren't very good and the principal doesn't really care then it would change my mind real quick. We have a friend who is a principal at a school in the city so she knows everyone and we ask her about it. That helps a lot. And touring the school too. It looks like a good school. And since both of us are teachers it's not like we won't be able to help with homework or enrichment activities on the side. Emily actually can read simple sentences already. (She turned four two weeks ago.)

I so agree with you Ruchie that it's wonderful that everyone can express their thoughts and beliefs and everyone respects that. We don't have to all agree but we don't have to attack one another about it either.

I am so excited to have found this place. In case you can't tell I like to talk! I've noticed some others do too so maybe it's a good thing we have to type everything. It slows us down! And others can get their two cents in as well.

The only down side I've found to being a mom is that I rarely get time to myself. If I can find five minutes when I am totally alone it's a miracle. Even now my kids are watching a show but they come over here all the time and cuddle while I type or they fight and I have to stop and get them and so on. Even the bathroom isn't private! Yikes, that can be bad some days I'll tell you.

But I love it and would recommend it to anyone. We don't have two cars or a fancy camping trailer or go on big holidays and we don't go out too often but we love it just the same. The Lord meets our needs and sometimes there is a little left over for the wants.

*hugs* right back at you.

Corinne
