Hi everyone. I'm scheduled for an upper endoscopy for this Friday (08/01). I have had ongoing throat/ear pain since 06/20 and been diagnosed and treated by my internist for strep, HFlu, and mono. I was able to see an ENT yesterday who stated I have no infection, there is redness behind my voice box and he believes it is related to reflux. I was diagnosed with GERD about 2 yrs ago and have been on meds since. The ENT wants a barium swallow done, so I called my GI today. He agreed that it sounds like reflux and suggested an upper endoscopy because it would give more info. He also stated that because of the IBS, the GERD can sometimes be worse than in a normal patient with GERD. I trust him totally. I have basically become a depressed hermit for over a month because of the pain and am praying this is the answer to my prayers in healing what is wrong.
