Nothing like a break in your routine to really shake you to the core! I'm terrified of going to pick up my contact lenses, cos the office people are rude and arrogant, and will try and shame and bully me into making a scheduled doctor's visit! They're also withholding the full number of contacts because they want me to pay $280 extra for the doc to tell me that my eyes haven't changed since I last saw him 10 months ago! So I've been wearing my last crusty pair for way too long, and they itch and I can barely see! We just do this to ourselves. Sometimes you need a friend to walk you over there and give you a shove. I know that's what I need! Maybe you should try dialing the phone and handing it to your son, telling him "It's your coach." I actually did something similar for my little brother when he was 20 and got an internship at the National Aquarium. He had to make a phone call and didn't because he was too scared he hadn't gotten it. It was 3 days past the due date, and I made the call for him and talked to the person. Turned out she was very nice and didn't give a fig about dates. She still wanted him for the position. She became his boss in a super cool dolphin psychology study where he taught them to respond to sign language and symbols, and he hasn't stopped thanking me, 13 years later. Think about it.
