I totally sympathize with you...Hosting is so much work, but it's hard to imagine how another host won't make the effort to make her guests comfortable. I also get annoyed watching other people pig out on things I only dream of eating, even if I don't necessarily have the desire to actually eat it. I often feel like hibernating in my room for the rest of my life and never dealing with guests or parties again!! Of course, I'm in college, so this is really not an option...Sorry you had a bad experience and feel free to vent anytime!!
