Second of all I also suffer from acid reflux and I am on Nexium (40 mg a day I believe? Have to look at Rx.) I find that the Nexium is helpful b/c I recently switched to Aciphex for about a week and let me tell ya I was crying for my Nexium. I also have alot of belching and gas everyday. (that is often very loud. ) My DH says I can beat the best of men in a belching contest, not exactly one of my goals in life. However, the awful heartburn and reflux of food up to the back of my throat after eating has lessened greatly w/ the Nexium. The GI I see says that my acid reflux is due to a mild hiatal hernia which in turn irritates my tummy and may be a factor to my IBS as well as stress and trigger foods and maybe even food allergies or trauma to tummy during pregnancy. In other words they don't know exactly what causes the IBS. My GI won't fix hernia since it is mild and said I will probably take Nexium for the rest of my life.
