I couldn't help reading your post; the subject line was too intriguing! I hope you don't mind my interjecting here, but I'm sure everyone will agree with me:
You need to follow your doctor's advice, regardless. If you trust the doc, and he knows your medical history, really there's no reason not to. Lots of IBS people can tolerate dead cow carcass (not me, though) and even dairy (again, not me), so the bottom line is: how do YOU tolerate it? If your body digests it okay with no problems, I'd say you're good to go. But if you have any kind of digestion problems from it at all, be sure to talk to your doctor, please! Above all, you need good nutrition.
I gotta tell ya -- I'm envious. I'd kill for a Quarter Pounder with Cheese!
