Heather! My mom did this for me too! She would get me new Christmas p.j's and wrap them up and say they were from Santa's Elves. Then she would always put them on the front porch or in the fireplace (unlit ) when I wasn't looking and say something like "I wonder who could be at the door" or "what is that over in the fireplace??" It was a lot of fun - I plan on doing it for my kids too!
My mom and I didn't have any set times for things, but we always used to bake and sing carols and go look at lights and visit friends and family. On Christmas day I would do presents with my mom and then go to my dads for the afternoon with my half-sis. Unless we were w/mom's family in Cali ...
