I just talked with the hospital today to confirm what I need to pay for my visit to ER with tummy pain. UGH! the visit cost a total of $1100! at least my portion is only $200 for everything. I can't believe it since I got nothing out of the visit at all. I was having different tummy pain than normal and worried it was an ulcer or gall bladder attack. I had never gone in for tummy pain before. Anyway someone my DH works with said urgent care was free for us so I went in one afternoon, but they would not see me since they don't do abdominal problems. So I went to ER and was feeling ok and all but had had really severe pain that morning. They did xrays and a bunch of blood/urine work and said I was constipated. I was told to cleanse or use an enema. So that was worth $1100?! So I did the phoso soda and nothing came out. My regular doc thinks my x-rays are misread and that when docs (young stupid ones) say I am really constipated I am in fact not. Anyway I have learned to not go to ER unless I have a really bad problem. Just an FYI for everyone about ER and urgent care.
