Health Insurance is soo expensive over there!
I spend €40 per month for me USD 51 and I get excellent coverage, and we have an alright public health system over here, going private just means you get to skip the waiting lists.
I have been paying for about five years and so far it has covered the bills for getting my wisdom teeth removed and my colonscopy tests and scans etc. It doesn's cover dr's visits and they cost €40/$50 a visit but if you spend over €200 in year on it then you can claim tax relief on any amount over that, and my tax rate is 42% so I usually get a couple of hundred € back every year.
When BF was in hospital for 8 days in June our insurers paid direct over €4000/$5000 without us even receiving a bill, it covered xrays, bloods, four nights in a private ward, consultants fees, he only spent about €200 himself and that was on meds and on private consultations with his surgeon. All in all a great service- anyone wishing to compare check out www.vhi.ie
They have only just launched a dental plan and I haven't enrolled yet and don't think I will, my aunt is a dentist so she does my work for me.
