Spastic Colon treatment

Here is a success story.

I am an Engineer, and I don't believe in non-scientific therapies. But.... My wife had a Spastic Colon for 3+ years and was diagnosed by 4 different medical doctors, who said some variation of "tough it out" or "operate". She did not accept either and turned to a Chinese doctor.

This doctor spoke no english, but his assistant did, and his assessment was to take her pulse for 15 minutes. He then prescribed her little black Chinese pills, and told her to have her partner (Me) massage her tummy 26 times clockwise and then 26 time counter clock wise.

I said "Yeah, right." But I love my wife and did the massage. She took the nasty tasting pills once, and could not get them down again.

Within two days, her spastic colon was gone. For good. It has not come back in the last 15 years.

What am I to make of this? I figure that it must have been some kind of muscle cramp, and that the massage allowed it to relax and get back to normal.

My question is, has anyone else had this experience?
Why would the medical profession not look into this kind of treatment? It seems safe, simple and effective for SOME cases, although one must rule out other internal issues before one goes applying pressure to internal organs.

Any thoughts?
