I had a D & C July 7th. Mine was because of a missed miscarriage. The procedure itself is pretty easy. I got to the hospital around 10 and was home by 1:30! They had me put on a lovely hospital nightgown, the nurse started an iv, the dr and anastegeoligst (SP??) both came in and talked to me real quick. Just before they weeled me into the actual operating room, they put some sort of relaxant into my iv. I remember being weeled into the room and saying "I don't want to see all this equipment." The dr said, don't worry and before he finished his sentance, I was out!

Offically, I had whats called a suction D & C. They use a vaccum hose kinda thing to "clean you out." Sounds pretty awful but like I said, I was completey out! The procedure only took about 20 minutes to half and hour. I woke up in the recovery area and had some moderate cramping, like period cramps. The stick a pad between your legs because you will be bleeding a little. Other than the cramping, I wasn't sore or anything. They got me up pretty quick and I got dressed. I was fairly crampy for the rest of that day the all of the next. I only bleed for about a day and it wasn't real heavy. I went home and slept for a while, hubby made me some dinner and I went to work the next day.

Physically, it was pretty easy. Most of my pain was mental, I hated knowing why I had to have to procedure done. They tell you that there is a small chance of scar tissue but I haven't heard of that being a problem for anyone.
