I have to disagree about being put off by Faye Kellerman books if you aren't Jewish as I am not, and they are still my favourite novels... I think the Jewish references made are very well explained and, if you read all the series, you become used to the ones she uses quite regularly. I would still recommend her books over and over - I've given them to lots of friends (none of whom are practicing Jews) and they've all enjoyed them. Also, I think it's a good way to read about different ways of life through novels as it is a lot easier going than text books or other non-fiction. --Steph
