Ok, your doctor is a tool. That's just wrong. I can't believe she didn't even look in your throat! Argh. I'll second what everyone else has said - try to see another doctor. It could be something really minor, but still - you deserve better than to have your concerns brushed aside like that.
As for the boyfriend... I'm convinced that men live in their own separate little parallel universe... one that doesn't at all coincide with reality. I will just say that I adore my boyfriend, but he can be incredibly frustrating at times, and I just look at him and think, "What the HELL are you THINKING?!" Ah well. I sympathize.
