If you really follow Heather's diet, you will most likely lose weight without even trying. At least, that has been my experience. Since changing my diet in February, I have now lost just over 30 pounds and gone down 2 pants sizes. 15 more pounds, and I'll be to my ideal weight!

If you cut out the unhealthy stuff (high-fat foods, foods with high fructose, red meats, etc.) and don't eat huge portions, as Heather suggests, you will most likely lose weight, too. I would focus on getting the IBS under control, and your body will love you for it!

As far as meal suggestions go, here are a few of my favorites...

First of all, I cook sauteed veggies a lot. Here's what I do - In skillet, saute a little olive oil, minced garlic, and minced onion (not too much). Add chopped carrots and stir around. Let them cook for just a couple of minutes, but don't let the garlic burn. Add chopped zucchini &/or yellow squash and chopped broccoli or other veggies of choice. Keep in mind that the carrots & zucchini/squash are SF, so keep those in there if you like them! Add a little salt and pour in a little water (just enough to get the carrots cooking, but not enough to drown all the veggies! Let simmer for a few minutes, stirring occasionally, until the carrots are tender.

Grilled chicken (cooked in a little olive oil, garlic, & minced onion) with rice and veggies (either green beans or sauteed veggies)

Tilapia (cooked in skillet with a little olive oil, Old Bay seasoning, & cumin) with Jasmine rice and sauteed veggies - got this meal idea from the recipe board here.

Shrimp stir-fry - saute veggies using sesame oil instead of olive oil and soy sauce instead of salt. Saute shrimp in soy sauce & a tiny bit of sesame oil. Serve over Jasmine rice.

Tyson teriyaki chicken breasts (sold in a big frozen bag at Sam's) with white rice and green beans or veggies

Tofu spaghetti - Amy's Family Marinara sauce (we didn't like the low-sodium variety). I add a little cubed tofu (maybe 1/3 block) to the sauce and cook for 20 minutes. Serve with your favorite type of non-egg noodle pasta. We just ate this tonight, actually... DELICIOUS!!!

For lunch, I often eat a GardenBurger flame grilled soy burger on a plain bun with a tiny bit of shredded cheese (fat-free works for me as long as I only eat a tiny bit, but you may need to get soy cheese). I HATE HATE HATE Boca burgers, but these are really good! I eat them with a few baked tostitos or BBQ soy crisps. Yum!

My other favorite lunch is Amy's tofu vegetable lasagna served with french bread.

Hope something here in my ramblings helps you!
