anyone tried bentyl?

Have any of you guys tried Bentyl? My uncle, an ER doctor, talked to his GI specialist at his hospital, and the other doctor recommended bently for me. I'm particularly worried about some of the side effects I was reading about - woozy/sleepy, impotence, bad diarrhea/vomiting an hour later, not much relief.

I've already been taking acacia before every meal and peppermint caps. It seems like those might work more efficiently than bentyl. Any feedback is appreciated.
