The U.S. recommendations re: protein intake for women is 54g/day. I'm Canadian and the D.R.A. is slightly less than that. Percentage-wise, the recommendation re: protein is 10% of calories, minimum...basically between 10% and 20%. Most foods contain a minimum percentage of calories from protein of 10%. Seriously. However, SOME PEOPLE FEEL THAT THEY FUNCTION better with a higher percentage of calories derived from protein. Basically, unless all you consume is water, it's hard not to get the minimum D.R.A. of protein. If you work out/train, etc. then obviously you might want a higher protein intake.
