What do you think triggered your IBS? I am 56 years old and have known for years I have had it and worked on living with it (not always successfully) but only recently thought about what started it all. I have had no stomach trauma as Heather notes (i.e. surgery, childbirth) at the time I had my onset but did have a lot of emotional trauma (at 16 I lost my Mom after her 1 year illness, tried to carry on my life as a Sr. in H.S. i.e. prom, graduation, started/quit nursing school and started a full-time job). Has anyone experienced emotional trauma as the onset?
