hey,

well i'm back on the ibs diet after a week of bad ibs symptoms. i like the ibs diet because in essence it's truthfully good for you.

i had been eating a lot of baked goods and i started a new medication which increases one's appetite, so i was literally eating every shred of food in the cupboards and gourging on fatty, deep fried foods from restaurants.

today it stopped! (yay for me!)

instead of something full of fat and ibs triggers i had rice for dinner. i'm taking the next few days to stabilize.

tell me what you think of what i got for groceries, and please give me any suggestions, they'd be much appreciated.

my grocery list starting today:

soy vanilla flavoured liquid (the equiv. to milk i guess)
textured vegetable protein
rice crackers
sweet potatoes
bakery fresh italian bread
flour tortillas
tapioca pudding
cornmeal muffin mix
peppermint tea
egg whites
no yolks noodles
... and i think that was about it

i was really surprised that my grocery store, seeing as i live in a small town (not known for it's multicultralism) had the specialty items i was looking for.

in fact i noticed that my "movements" started to be more regular and less painful within hours of taking my metamucil and eating a lot of rice. i've had two really good one's so far... i felt healthy. but that's a little gross and after all i'm downing the rice crackers so i want to keep things palatable.

i don't think i'll have too much of a problem with some of the restrictions, personally i hate red meat, i don't drink coffee, and i don't drink alcohol often either... and bran yuck! my only vice is caffeine in soda... that will be a temptation, plus i'll have to find a way not to indulge in so much baked goods.

i kindof feel like a vegetarian, i wasn't eating much meat in the first place, and so i'm really excited about this, i think it will likely be good all around for me. the only thing is that to be healthy it costs a little more, because the items are specialty, but i would have to argue that it's a price worth paying!!

one question though.

how does canned tuna affect ibs? is it okay to eat, i'm not sure if it's something that i shouldn't have too much of.

well all your suggestions will be warmly appreciated. i can't wait to head on over to the recipe forum and get some new dishes to make, but for tonight i think i'm pooped... no pun intended lol
