Hi back Shelby,
I noticed you didn't join the boards until March so I doubt you did much harm in the amount of soy you did consume. But I'm glad to hear that you will from now on, avoid it, just to be on the precautionary side.
It's a little hard at first to avoid it. One must read any and all labels you can get your hands on and go from there. I even have hubby on the lookout for the word soy on any label and if it's there, he puts it back, knowing how I feel. There is in fact many people who are allergic to soy, as it too is a common allergen, so do a google search for boards that are for people allergic to soy. They'll list foods to avoid. Wish I had the site for you but I think I lost it in the last wipeout of my computer.
I have to tell you, those rice cheese subs "ain't" that good. I just sorta avoid all cheese if I can, except for a little real grated Parmesan now and then because it is the lowest in fat, or a tad of FF real cheese. I know that is a big no-no and a trigger for most people but the fat seems to be a much bigger trigger for me, plus, even though I'm not lactose intolerant I take a lactaid beforehand. Digestive enzymes for me seems to be a must otherwise almost anything becomes a trigger.
I have to THANK you as well. First off, a huge congrats on being a survivor. My best friend who lives a state away went thru that 2 years ago. It was a living nightmare. Her breast cancer was CAUSED from estrogen supplements!!! I only see her once a year, and this year on Labor Day will be our yearly reunion. I totally forgot to warn her about soy last year. If it hadn't been for your post I wouldn't have given it at thought.........but boy, this year she will get an ear full. So thanks Shelby, for bringing this up. You may just have saved another "sister", in a round about way, from the tortures of having a relapse.
BTW, if you take a good look at the Rice Dream ice creams you'll notice that there is a big difference in fat g. in the different flavors. Although boring, vanilla has the least. Being the chocolate freak I am, I buy the vanilla and sprinkle on Giradelli's double chocolate hot cocoa mix to satisfy my chocolate fix.
Hope this helps, but don't hesitate to ask if you need any thing else..........
Kandee (so, when do I come get my new Lincoln...LOL?)
