Hi! I am an IBS Cer as well. I have also tried Miralax and although it did make me go the next day, I found that it irritated my stomach (so good because I had a bm but bad because I had pain). Luckily, I am able to tolerate wheat/whole wheat bread and so I try to eat that instead of the white bread because although it helps with the pain, it does not help with the bm. I find that for me, drinking plenty of water/peppermint tea, etc. all day and having my veggies and fruit are key in order for me to go. If I do not do all of these things on a given day, I can pretty much guarantee that I will not go the next day at all. Here is a sample menu of my typical day:

7:30am-Breakfast: glass of water (not cold), soluble fiber supplement (Fibercon--storebrand version), Multi-Vitamin (Whole Foods, no additives, all natural)
Organic oatmeal made with soymilk OR bowl of Barbara's Puffins with soymilk, OR Cream of Wheat made with soymilk, OR Wheat toast with seedless jam (eg Apricot) and hot chocolate (made with real cocoa w/out sugar and vanilla soymilk).

11am-Snack: Few fatfree saltines or organic Pretzels (Trader Joe's) and SFS

1pm-Lunch-SFS, pep. pill-in this order (very important!): Baked Sweet Potato w/out skin (Whole Foods-organic-tastes better), steamed carrots with smidgen of olive oil, cooked spinach, Cornbread (IBS recipe)
OR
Risotto made with brown rice, onions, tomatoes and olive oil (doesn't bother me), 1/2 Whole wheat pita (Trader Joe's--doesn't bother me), green beans, Apple-Cinnamon rice cakes
OR
Beets, sourdough roll, Oven-Roasted Turkey (organic), cooked broccoli, Will's Rice Pudding (IBS recipe)

3pm-SFS, Fatfree saltines

6pm-Fruit Smoothie (banana, mango, blueberries)

If I follow that guideline everyday, give or take a few changes/recipes, I am pretty much guaranteed that I will have a bm (I sit every morning for 10-15 mins with a book, about 15 mins after breakfast). If I go, great, if not, I get up after the alloted time (bring a watch) and go about your day and eat everything right. Again, it's very important that we IBS Cers drink lots of water to get things moving as we have slow motility (not cold! to avoid pain) and make sure to get that insoluble fiber in there however you feel you can tolerate it. I would also suggest drinking plenty of peppermint tea, particularly after a meal. And don't drink too much of anything during a meal. Try to go for a walk, or to at least be active after you eat anything, don't just sit there. And try to be positive (sounds obvious and silly, but when I'm in a crappy mood either because of the IBS or something else, I can safely say that the pain will come back/continue, etc.)
Good luck!

* oh i know i wish it was too. But it is a safe laxative, just one your body will become reliant on-NT

* Exactly! Keep that soluble fiber, and use it to safely add insoluble! -nt-

* Sounds like you're avoiding insoluble fiber...
