Irritable Bowel Syndrome Message Boards

These last two weeks have been great ones for me as I haven't had an attack. I have finally been eating right and really realizing what sets me off. I also am back to working with my trainer John. He is also a nutrionist and has studied about IBS. This really helps because he knows what I need to look for. This week in fact he went shopping with me and showed me what I need to look for in the ingredients. That helped alot because I really get confused about those things.
I think that he also learned from me. There were some things that he thought I could eat but when we read the label we realized I couldn't. This helps so much to have him help me out. I have been doing good but not great. Now I know that I will do great and keep from getting an attack. I know it will never stop but at least I can control it a little more and know what does set it off.
I also showed John my IBS book and he suggested that we cook some of the receipes together. I think that is a great idea. This way he gets a first hand idea of what I can eat.
He also said something that I had never thought of. I told him how I get frustrated because I can't eat the way everyone else eats. There are times when I crave ice cream or a steak or even real cheese. He said to me to think of the way I eat like this "you are not eating different you are eating the way everyone should be eating that way." I never thought of that before but it is true.

I just wanted to write and let everyone know how I am doing and hope everyone else is doing great to.
