BINGO.
I had heard about some people not being able to tolerate mushrooms, but I think that's rare. When I first read your post, I thought to myself, "Self, there's more going on here than mushrooms...."
I blame the cheesecake. You can have a delayed reaction to any food. And there's also something to food "overload." You can eat something that's a trigger one day and get away with it, but if you have it the next day, BAM! Did you read my post in the Living Room, "Attack in the Fabric Store"? Same thing happened to me that happened with you and the cheesecake. I heart Oriental cabbage salad, and I haven't had it in years. Heather modified my recipe for me, so I made it on Sunday, then had two helpings of it on Monday (but safely, with the soluble fiber first). No problems! So, yesterday I had it for a third time, then went to the fabric store, and right in the middle of being waited on at the cutting counter, BAM! Instant diarrhea! Ooooh, I had to RUN, and FAST!
I won't repeat my post, but suffice it to say I had a real rough afternoon yesterday, barely making it back home, having to take a public bathroom stop along the way.
Hubby said it well: I can tolerate something scary -- like the cabbage, for instance -- ONCE. But I'm pushing it a second time. In this case, I had it a third -- BIG mistake!
I bet you'd have done well to quit after the first serving, you'd probably not had any problems at all. But the second did you in.
Hope you're feeling better soon.
