Does anyone feel that they bring their IBS symptoms on themselves? (m)

I wonder this sometimes. I truly believe that mine has been stress induced when my mom died last year. I really never had problems before she got sick and went through the stress of all of that. I'd hear bad news and immediately get D. Well, now it's more under control, I can go weeks w/o symptoms. But I think when I worry about getting it, or have to go somewhere I almost talk myself into it...all of a sudden, I feel those "butterflies" and before I know it, I'm hitting the bathroom. And it's not just "D", it's just the urgency to go more than I think I should be going. Sorry for the rambling. Just wondered if anyone felt the same way. Keys to relaxing this spastic colon?
