If your doc told you to take Benefiber, I definitely wouldn't change until I checked with him first. However, be prepared for him to know nothing about acacia. My doc knew nothing about it, and looked it up but found zilch.
I don't know what it is about Equalactin -- it's just a soluble fiber supplement like all the others -- but it settles my tummy BETTER than the others such as Fibercon or Citrucel. It's my security blanket. When I'm under stress, expecting company, have to go out to dinner somewhere, have to be in a meeting, any kind of social event, or just feel rumblings or cramps coming on, the Equalactin calms it all down. I don't take it INSTEAD of anything -- certainly not my acacia -- just as I need it, that's all.
