I ended up going to a walk-in tonight because the pain got worse and got a not so nice doctor who barely examined me (poked me in the boob once and said "does that hurt?") and told me it wasn't my heart. I've had costochrondritis before (inflammation in the chest wall) and he said it's just that and gave me codeine and muscle relaxants. I guess I should be happy that he said it's nothing to worry about...but what's with these doctors? Honestly, he spent no more than two minutes in the room with me...how can he be so sure? And when he wrote the prescriptions he wouldn't even stay in the room and go over with me to make sure that they would interact with any of my other meds...god it's so frustrating!
