Seeing the doc again tomorrow. I have IBS d and never have been prescribed meds. Last month, I started getting gas, bloating tightness/pain so I saw the doc two weeks ago and he prescribed heartburn Rx which didn't help.
I have a referral to a gastro doc, but in the meantime, I would like to have some meds "just in case." It seems like most docs are prescribing a smooth muscle relaxant. Do you think Levsin (hyoscyamine generic)is a good choice?
I am experiencing a lot of anxiety regarding the change in symptoms and I know that is making the IBS worse. What anxiety med would you recommend I suggest to the doc? Just something mild, to take the "edge" off the worrying. I was thinking of ativan (generic lorazepam).
Anyway, thought it would be helpful to have some suggestions for the doc as he seems determined to treat me for heartburn!
