Feeling like you could use a break from the constant work and research of keeping your intestines happy? I read a novel last year called American Fuji by Sara Backer about an expatriate in Japan who has, among other troubles, ulcerative colitis. I know it doesn't sound funny, but some of the characters and situations will give you a much-needed belly laugh. I wanted to share it with you. Some days, I also remind myself of the book Like Water for Chocolate - convinced I might die of the gas. If you've never read this one, the book is much funnier than the movie.
