Hi - for diarrhea, calcium carbonate will be the safest, as it doesn't have any added magnesium, which can be a laxative. If you want a cal/mag combo stick with the ones that come as a combination, as that will be the safest ratio. Too much magnesium can affect your heart rhythms.
I don't have any particular brands to recommend, just keep reading ingredients as you have been to find ones without the unnecessary additives or sweeteners. iHerb.com online is a good source for tons of brands and they give full product info, reviews, etc. I find they have lots more than most of my local stores.

Hi, only the one post since registering?? If you search under "All Posts" all posts involving calcium comes up. Cal Carb is best taken throughout the day for better absorption after meals I think. Call company to see how much recommended based on gender and age. Factor in how much you are already getting from enriched milk substitutes if need to. BTW, I take mag. glycinate/lycinate, not oxide or citrate, causes looser stools. Usually its a 2:1 ratio of Cal to Mag and vitamin D added for absorption.
