There is a little bit of evidence to show that IBS individuals that are vitamin D deficient and have other disorders may show a some improvement by taking vitamin D supplement. However, overall vitamin D does not seem to play a major role in IBS. However, everyone in North America especially individuals in northern regions should take at least 1000-2000 IU vitamin D supplement per day particularly in the winter time. I take 4000 IU per day in the winter and 1000 IS upper in the summer. It has not help my symptoms at all.
