She is pretty young to be starting with IBS, though certainly possible - Was she officially diagnosed with it? I would suggest seeing a pediatric gastroenterologist if the pediatrician isnt cooperating, to rule out any other conditions that may be causing her symptoms. If it is indeed IBS, a lot of the normal things moms do, like calling attention to diet, symptoms, etc. may actually increase symptoms. I speak with parents of children with IBS, though not quite as young, but first do find out if there was an official diagnosis made. I agree that meds at so young an age should be avoided if possible.
