Why is metamucil so weak in actual fiber?

So I spoke to my GI doctor and he recommended psyllium for my IBS-C. He said 10g twice daily.

Ive been taking metamucil and didn't find it done alot. But now ive realized each dose is only 3.4g??

So that means you'd have to take 3x dosages at a time to get to the 10g that the doctor recommended!

Is that right? The instructions say don't exceed the normal dosage.
