Fructose test

Ok, so I went for my fructose breath test yesterday. I have a good bit of fructose in my diet and thought I could handle it just fine...but in the process of ruling everything out, I really figured I would just do it. Well, I drank the solution, my numbers rose right away, but not enough to be positive yet. After the first round, I got awful cramping, lots of diarrhea and was so sick! It was miserable. I was surprised then when the rest of the breath test came back normal...my numbers went right back down. What the heck?! The nurse even said it was pretty bizarre. She said she normally sees it continue to rise, not drop down. And she said that I certainly had the right reaction for a fructose problem..
Can anyone give me some insight? I'm waiting to hear if the doctor can give me some impression... I'm afraid they'll just say, oh well. It's negative. But such a weird reaction!
However, I did get another recommendation for an ibs specialist at Cleveland clinic, so I will see him in April. Hopefully this doc will a plan. I'm so sick of this!
